1108 Joshua Ave. Parker, AZ. Arizona Humanities Speaker, Todd Weber, will give this fascinating talk, clad in buckskins, and displaying his extensive collection of items of the fur trade era. Todd will share the life and times of Pauline Weaver, one of Arizona's first white settlers. This presentation also includes an interesting demonstration of tools used by Territorial settlers. All are welcome to this free program.
Miners, Cowboys, and Washerwomen: the Work Songs of Arizona
Thursday, March 4, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Community/Senior Center, 1115 12th Street, presented by the Parker Public Library. Composer, writer, and scholar, Dr. Jay Cravath, delivers a lively and entertaining portrait of working class music. From the cotton fields of Chandler to the crooked streets of Jerome, songs were companions to the immigrants who explored and built our state. This free program is co-sponsored by the Arizona Humanities Council and the Parker Friends of the Library.
